Check out the new phones of Week 23

The past few days were quite busy on the mobile front. Device announcements were quite plentiful and a lot of them entirely out of the blue. There isn't really any spectacular powerhouse on the list, but, the phones do deserve their share of attention.

First up is the Meizu m2 note. It comes as a descendant and more or less updated version of the highly-impressive Meizu m1 note. Priced equally to the predecessor at CNY999 (~$160), the new Meizu m2 note packs even more bang for the buck. It is a phablet-sized unit with a spacious 5.5-inch FullHD display and a midrange MT6753 chipset. It packs the same octa-core Cortex-A53 setup as its predecessor, but, now offers global 4G coverage - and astonishing feat for a sub-$200 device. And the m2 note just keeps on giving.

The Top Ten Trending Phones of week 18

This week turned out quite surprising and brought us one of the most diverse editions of our Top 10 trending chart. Just don't expect the Samsung Galaxy S6 to surrender the crown, it still remains undisturbed at the top.

The Top 10 trending phones chart is a recap list of the devices that gathered the most hits throughout the week. In other words, the chart represents the interests of the majority of you, our visitors, and is an indication of what currently interests you.

The Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML entered last weekstraight to number 2 and retains the runner-up position in this edition. The LG G4 stormed to the third spot immediately after its official launch a few days ago.
In fourth we find another new entry in the face of the Micromax Canvas Spark Q380 with its eye set on the podium, only a few thousand hits behind the G4. And breathing down the Q380's neck is no other than the Xiaomi Mi 4i midranger on a budget.
Long-time medalists Galaxy Grand Prime and Galaxy S6 edge have fallen down the ranks and occupy the 6th and 7th spots this week. The Sony Xperia Z4 hasn't managed to hold on to last week's 5th position and slips down to 8th. Samsung's other two usual suspects Galaxy S5 and A5 complete this edition of the Top 10 trending phones chart.

Nepal-Earthquake warning story

Nepal's devastating earthquake was the disaster experts knew
was coming.
Just a week ago, about 50 earthquake and social scientists from
around the world came to Kathmandu, Nepal, to figure out how
to get this poor, congested, overdeveloped, shoddily built area to
prepare better for the big one, a repeat of the 1934 temblor that
leveled this city. They knew they were racing the clock, but they
didn't know when what they feared would strike.

This weeks Top Ten trending smartphones.

Just when you thought the Samsung Galaxy S6/S6 edge/Grand Prime triumvirate was going to rule for months on end, the Asus Zenfone 2 ZE551ML stepped in and claimed a seat in the Top 3. And it's also worth noting that the Galaxy S6 lost a massive 30K hits compared to last week.
